The Turks butchered between 1.0 and 1.5 million innocent Armenian civilians and, to this day, 109 years later, deny culpability. The Armenian Genocide was real and horrific. We must 1. Never forget and 2. embrace and promulgate the principle of inalienable individual rights. If we do both—and only if we do—can we ensure that such atrocities are never perpetrated again.
